It's been a long time w/out posting, I'm back :) I will mention about an example of 'money concept' for 2nd grade students. Its a part of Cambridge Mathematics Curriculum for 2nd graders but Turkish Mathematics Curriculum doesn't include this topic, so it was a new concept for my students. Objectives of this lesson was introducing the difference of dollars and cents, recognition of decimals and how to add them.
Introduction step was about mentioning markets, restaurants, asking where we are using money, what kinds of numbers they see as a price, what does dollars and cents means? and so on. After this small  discussion, we imagined ourselves as in a market. I hang some cards on the board and showed each product's price. Also I gave different kinds of shopping list cards to the groups and they calculated the total price of their shoppings.

It was a nice and efficient lesson and all students liked it a lot.
